The exhibition features traditional crafts and culture nurtured from the bounty of nature, as well as the characteristics and charms of traditional events in various regions of Japan that have been carefully passed down from generation to generation.

\nOne such initiative is our participation in the “Book Baton Project<\/a>” conducted by the certified NPO “Room to Read Japan<\/a>” This activity involves creating and displaying a “Book Tree” made from books donated by guests and employees during the Christmas and New Year period. The proceeds from the sale of these books are donated to improve literacy rates and educational environments for children living in low-income areas in Asia and Africa.

As part of efforts to enhance job satisfaction, Shiba Park Hotel has implemented an internal award system called the \u201cGood Job Awards.\u201d Through this initiative, employees can nominate each other for outstanding work that left a strong impression as a \u201cGood Job.\u201d Each year, approximately 120 to 180 cases are nominated, and twice a year, an awards ceremony is held to recognize selected individuals. Notably, our organic bamboo toothbrushes contribute to reducing plastic waste. This toothbrush is made using patented technology and contains no chemical agents, ensuring it is safe and environmentally friendly. Bamboo is a sustainable material that grows in just 3 to 4 years, making it an ideal alternative to plastic. Additionally, our toothpaste comes in paper packaging, supporting an eco-friendly lifestyle that begins with oral care. \nEco-friendly cleaning service does not include room cleaning (vacuuming, bed making and sheet changing, bathroom cleaning) for stays of up to 2 nights, and we do not enter guests\u2019 rooms. However, changing towels, replenishing amenities, and collecting trash are available 24 hours a day upon request. For hygienic reasons, we clean the rooms every 2 days during stays of 3 nights and more. By reusing bed linen and amenities instead of replacing them, we are committed to environmental conservation by reducing CO2 emissions, water resources, electricity, and waste.<\/p>\n

Shiba Park Hotel recommends the \u201c3010 Movement\u201d and \u201cmottECO\u201d to our guests.
\nGuests who support the “3010 Movement” will enjoy the food for 30 minutes after the toast, and then move on to a chatting time. In addition, 10 minutes before the end of the party, they can enjoy the meal again. If they still cannot finish their meal, they will be given a “mottECO box” in which is available take home the dishes at their own risk. This is a great way to enjoy the hotel’s signature dishes in your entirety.<\/p>\n

For Shiba Park Hotel\u2019s original bookmarks and our employee\u2019s business cards, we have adopted the Fair Trade-certified banana paper, One Planet Paper \u00ae. This ethical paper is a collaboration between Japan\u2019s traditional Echizen Washi craftmanship and organic banana farmers in Mfuwe village, Zambia. It is uniquely linked to all 17 of the UN\u2019s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
\nThe production of this banana paper involves local Zambian women who handcraft the material, creating job opportunities and supporting community empowerment. Moreover, as part of a climate-positive initiative, the process absorbs and sequesters more CO2 than it emits, contributing to a sustainable environment.
\nAbout One Planet Paper \u00ae:
\nOne Planet Paper \u00ae began in 2011 with a vision to address two major challenges; environmental issues, such as deforestation and wildlife loss, and social issues, including poverty in developing countries and women\u2019s empowerment.
\nThis is the first Fair Trade-certified paper in Japan and is directly tied to all 17 SDGs. It is produced in collaboration with organic banana farmers and local communities in Mfuwe village, near South Luangwa National Park in Zambia. The production process achieves climate positivity by absorbing and fixing more CO2 than it generates, making it a Fair Trade product that supports people, forests, and wildlife while protecting the environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

This initiative achieves CO\u2082 reduction throughout the entire product life cycle and enhances employee awareness of environmental issues and commitment to the SDGs.

\nIt is a machine that guarantees the quality of new products by disassembling, cleaning, and replacing parts of used products or regenerating parts from used products as needed and reassembling them.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/details>\n

Countermeasures Against Global Warming -Transitioning to Eco-Friendly Alternatives<\/h3>\n<\/summary>\n

\u30fbElimination of the use of plastic straws<\/b>\u3000In order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, one of the problems of global warming, the use of plastic straws has been eliminated and sugarcane straws have been introduced in our restaurant.
\nAbout sugarcane straws:
\nSugarcane straws are made from bagasse (food residue byproduct from the sugarcane refining process) that used to be disposed of as an industrial waste material and PLA (polylactic acid), making them an upcycled product that is biodegradable with 100% natural ingredients.<\/span>
\n\u30fbWooden guest room key cards<\/b>\u3000To reduce the use of plastic materials, we introduce wooden key cards for our guests.
\n\u30fbLaundry bags<\/b>\u3000LIMEX is a new material based on limestone. Its use as a bag reduces the amount of plastic used.<\/p>\n

\u30fbZero use of plastic bottles for mineral water in the guest rooms<\/b>\u3000By using the purified water server, the use of plastic bottles for water in guest rooms will be reduced to zero. The water source is drinking water from Tokyo, which is known as one of the safest and best quality water sources in the world. The water is delivered through a water purifier before use. Continuous use of controlled drinking water also helps conserve resources.
\nOur in-house guests are welcome to use water for drinking from our water server at any time and as much as they like.
\nIt is available 24 hours a day in the elevator halls on each guest room floor.
\n*In 2013, the Advanced water purification plants were completed in all targeted areas of Tokyo.
\n*Tap water has \u201c51 water quality standards\u201d<\/a> established by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan.<\/span><\/p>\n

We use water stand with high-performance purified water server, and it is reliable 3-stage filter system \/ Nano Trap Filter. In order to produce safe and good taste water from familiar tap water, the water is slowly and carefully filtered as if the earth were producing natural water.
