At Shiba Park Hotel, we present a bonsai exhibition featuring works specially selected by BONSAI SADASYO to harmonize beautifully with the hotel’s serene spaces.
Displayed on the historic central grand staircase of the hotel are bonsai that continue to retain their beauty even after many long years have passed.
Their presence embodies the value of time and a beauty that is passed down and preserved through generations.
We invite our guests to take their time and enjoy the deep stories that reside within these bonsai, found in their quiet and dignified presence.

In 1974, Mariko Bonsai Garden was established by master bonsai artist Sanji Mariko.
Since its founding, the garden has continued to create outstanding bonsai and has earned high recognition as a bonsai brand with the largest number of awards in Japan.
Today, third-generation bonsai artist Daisuke Mariko carries on both the techniques and spirit of his predecessors. Under the name BONSAI SADASYO, he continues to pass bonsai culture on to the future.
What BONSAI SADASYO values most is “the beauty of creating bonsai naturally.”
One method of shaping bonsai is to wrap wire around branches to form their shape. While this method is simple and efficient, wire was originally intended to shorten the distance between branches and is not a tool meant to force a shape by applying excessive strength.
Bonsai created in such a manner lose their inherent beauty. Carefully observing each bonsai’s individuality, age, and condition, and creating timeless bonsai that will not fade in the future—this is the aesthetic philosophy that BONSAI SADASYO holds most dear.
This approach may be the most inefficient and difficult method. However, bonsai created over many long years bring deep emotion to the hearts of those who view them.
Satsuki azalea bonsai are regarded as a symbol of elegance within Japanese bonsai culture.
Blooming with layers of vivid pink flowers, the tree becomes entirely enveloped in blossoms at the height of the flowering season.
The trunk bears the dignity of many passing years, where a powerful upward form is beautifully balanced with finely crafted, delicate branches.
Living for most of the year for this brief moment of bloom, the Satsuki has long captivated viewers with its fleeting yet unforgettable beauty.
When placed within a space, this bonsai offers not only visual brilliance, but also conveys a sense of quiet refinement and grace unique to Japanese culture.
