Shiba Park Hotel presents the “Tale of Artisans,” an exhibition that introduces traditional crafts created by artisans from across Japan, set within the hotel’s distinctive book-filled environment as a Library Hotel.
With a different seasonal theme, each exhibition explores the stories behind the techniques and cultural heritage passed down by artisans, presented alongside the hotel’s extensive book collection.
Light Shimmers.
As the sun shines powerfully upon all things, this season brings warmth, energy, and vibrant colors into everyday life.
For Tale of Artisans Vol.19, the theme is “You,” featuring two traditional crafts.
The first is Kasama Ware, known for its gentle tones and the warmth of clay, quietly enhancing the presentation of food and bringing a soft sense of color to the dining table.
The second is Koshu Inden, crafted from deerskin decorated with lacquer, characterized by its rich colors and intricate patterns that add refined elegance to everyday life.
These two crafts, shaped by different materials and techniques, offer distinct expressions of beauty.
Together with the book collections placed throughout the hotel, we invite you to experience a moment of quiet discovery of Japanese culture and history, in harmony with the changing seasons.
Traditions that have been cultivated over time continue to connect to the future—
we welcome you with heartfelt hospitality throughout the seasons.
Please take your time and enjoy the exhibition at your leisure.
